Built around an Integral Waste Management (IWM) model, the guidelines move waste management from a backโoffice afterthought to a missionโcritical function thatโs embedded in procurement, logistics, clinical care, and WASH. Practical tools, including colourโcoded segregation kits, treatment decision trees, and riskโbased monitoring checklists enable field teams to plan, prepare, and execute safe waste cycles while reducing singleโuse items, phasing out PVC, and supporting local wasteโpicker livelihoods.
