As a sector we know that children and young people are disproportionately affected by the impacts of humanitarian crises. As well as being potentially exposed to poverty and exploitation, children living in such contexts often also encounter significant disruptions to their education and learning, with potentially lifelong impacts on their literacy skills.

Today – International Literacy Day – we are reminded of the crucial importance of literacy skills to individual and community wellbeing. Today also underscores the need to ensure the ongoing provision of education and literacy learning spaces in all contexts as a matter of dignity and human rights.

As well as providing a range of consultancy services that can assist organisations delivering literacy related humanitarian responses, Solvoz has previously developed two emergency education kit solutions that have been adapted from ICRC and UNICEF guidance. You can check these out in our solutions catalogue by clicking here.

Please contact us TODAY if you require our support in providing ongoing education and literacy support services in LMICs and areas affected by humanitarian crises. And feel free to signpost us to any further knowledge resources related to education / literacy that we can adapt and share via our open-access knowledge directory.
