Procurement plays a vital role in facilitating effective humanitarian responses. However, procurement methods traditionally utilised in our sector often result in multiple unintentional, but nonetheless, adverse consequences. As was discussed by many during the European Humanitarian Forum in Brussels of DG ECHO (@european-commission-echo). At Solvoz, we recognise the urgent need for change in how products and services are procured in our sector. We also acknowledge the crucial role that localisation plays in developing more effective and responsible procurement practices.
Solvoz’s approach and platform champions localisation thereby enabling greener, more efficient, and cost-effective humanitarian responses. By prioritising local sourcing, we can not only deliver aid more effectively but also empower local service providers and strengthen local economies, contributing to lasting economic recovery.
